10/6/12: The thought of going to an old cemetery was exciting because a few years ago when my family visited Louisiana, we passed by some very old, English-style cemeteries. I chose to visit Olivewood Cemetery because of the fact that it was the first African-American cemetery in Houston. When I got to the driveway entrance of Olivewood, I was super creeped out because the road made the cemetery look like an abandoned, haunted cemetery. When I entered Olivewood, I ended up meeting Charles Cook at the cemetery and I listened to him talk about the history of Olivewood and the current problems and issues that were going on at this cemetery.

The Many Pictures of Olivewood:
Some of the tombstones in Olivewood have words that say "Gone but will never be forgotten." After spending a good 3 hours looking at how everything in the cemetery is unkempt, I actually felt upset. The condition of this cemetery is just sad...
it's forgotten.
